Challenge
Altos needed a budget-friendly MVP while validating an early device prototype. We had to build iOS/Android apps from scratch (Swift/Kotlin) with BLE connectivity and ensure background syncing even when the iOS app was offloaded. A major blocker was inconsistent iBeacon detection on iOS, causing missed background wake-ups and risking data continuity.
Solutions
Built mobile MVP (iOS/Android) with BLE connectivity, reliability hardening, and UI refresh.
Investigated iBeacon wake failures; confirmed Apple requirement to broadcast iBeacon in the first packet.
Worked with the hardware team to adjust device firmware broadcasting for consistent recognition.
Delivered backend + admin panel, OTA firmware management/remote updates, and ongoing support.
Outcome
Stable device-to-app telemetry with dependable background syncing, including offload scenarios.
Low-power background operation (~1% daily drain) enabled continuous monitoring.
